This material study primarily focused on applications for its parent graph: The Bone Machine, a Substance Designer material I created which simulates the look of a pile of skeletal remains.
I recently decided to test practical fusions of materials I either had on hand or was interested in making. This example contains a super simple WIP substance material layer blend for sand I put together for another project, but the application for this setup doesn't need to be limited to any particular material. Each bone is a separate depth map. In theory, you could make the maps you feed into this graph swords, roots, stones, etc. It's very versatile.
Breakdown of the substance graph and The Bone Machine coming soon.
